WHY IT MATTERS IN AIRCRAFT
Generic chargers cause real problems

Generic plug-in USB chargers aren’t designed for aircraft use. They typically generate electrical interference that degrades radio and GPS performance, and poor voltage regulation can damage connected devices with little or no safety protection.

TYPICAL USE
Power that keeps up, not just tops up

iPads, tablets, and phones running navigation, EC, or GPS apps in flight often have internal GPS and mobile radios active throughout searching for signal, logging position, or driving a moving map, all at high screen brightness. That’s a sustained, high power draw many chargers can’t match, so the device appears to be charging but is still losing battery. With our chargers, devices stay properly charged, not just topped up.


USB POWER DELIVERY
USB-PD R3.2 v1.0

Compatible with modern fast-charging and high-power devices. Each port independently negotiates voltage and current with the connected device. It also retains backwards compatibility with older USB devices.

Independent port operation

Each port operates independently, so power on one port stays uninterrupted regardless of what happens on the other, whether a device is connected, disconnected, or experiences a fault. Plugging in a new device never disrupts what’s already connected.

MOUNTING OPTIONS
Direct panel mount

Chargers can be directly mounted in an instrument panel. Dimensions are on the specifications page.

Circular instrument cutout adapter

Adapter plate for standard 57mm and 32mm circular instrument panel cutouts. Avoids the need for a cutout in an existing panel.

Version 2 replacement adapter

Specific adapter for replacing an existing version 2 charger unit. Reuses the existing cutout and mounting points.


INSTALLATION

Our chargers can be permanently installed. The installation process is the same for all aircraft. What differs is the regulatory paperwork depending on how your aircraft is registered.

Uniquely, the chargers have an adjustable maximum power level settable for each port. This ensures compliance with current regulatory limits or available power restrictions. If limits change in the future, the output can be changed as required.


BACKGROUND

The V3 USB-PD generation charger follows the same design principles as the Charge2 and Charge4 USB chargers, which have been in service in light aircraft cockpits since 2014. The very low interference and voltage regulation requirements haven’t changed, but the devices being charged have.
